WL-1 Floating Strobe Light
U.S. Coast Guard Approved
FIG 8958
The body and lens of the WL1 water light are molded of high impact resistant plastic, which offers high U.V. resistance and zero cor-
rosion. This strobe light is a floating marker light to be deployed to mark the location where a person or object has fallen overboard.
The light is stored in the stainless steel mounting bracket (Included) in an inverted position and ready for instant use. Upon being
thrown overboard it automatically begins to flash when it floats in an upright position. The high intensity xenon strobe flash is visi-
ble for several miles from the air as well as from 360° of horizon. The great advantage of a xenon strobe is its remarkably greater
brilliance, which can penetrate rain, fog and haze. This brilliance does not decrease with battery drain unlike an incandescent light.
Instead, the flash frequency diminishes slowly as the battery nears the end of its capacity. When used with a fresh alkaline type bat-
tery, you may expect the U.S. Coast Guard required flash rate of 50 to 70 flashes per minute to continue for 50 to 52 hours. This is
over three times the U.S.C.G. minimum flash duration requirement! When used with a carbon-zinc battery, the yield will be about
one-third or 16 to 17 hours duration. Use only a 6-Volt; spring post style lantern battery.
